The classic 1973 Ghost Rider series is reprinted in full with this Marvel Masterworks volume!

Including a rare Marvel Super-Heroes story for a complete accounting of Blaze’s original adventures.

The Marvel Masterworks proudly present the finale of the Ghost Rider series that burned through pages for a decade and made the demon biker an icon. In this volume, series artist Bob Budiansky is joined by then-up-and-coming and now-lengendary writer J.M. DeMatteis. They’ll make Johnny Blaze’s struggle to contain the vengeance-obsessed demon as compelling as ever with adversaries like the stunning Steel Wind. The true test comes when Asmodeus compels Mephisto to split Blaze and Zarathos. It’s pedal to the metal from there as Zarathos’ origin is revealed and Roxanne Simpson returns, setting up a final showdown that will prove the high cost of vengeance. Also featuring two rare Ghost Rider What If? tales and an encounter with the Defenders.

Johnny Blaze’s ability to control the unrelenting demonic power of the Ghost Rider is starting to fail, and when the spirit of vengeance can range free, his wrath will know no limits. Villains from the overly ocular Orb to Azmodeus don’t know what’s in for them. What do we have in for you? Not just another full tank of Ghost Rider, but the beginning of the creative runs of fan-favorite writers Roger Stern and J.M. DeMatteis and high-octane artist Bob Budiansky! They rejuvenated the series, bringing higher stakes, even more suspenseful storytelling and classic moments for every horror-hero fan to love: Ghost Rider goes to confession, the Freakmaster, killer clowns and a demon-biker ready to burn rubber and mete out the vengeance of hell!

Werewolf by Wolfman? That’s right, the man born to write Werewolf by Night—Marv Wolfman—takes the writing reins on Marvel’s moon-cursed monster in this Masterworks. Together with artists Gil Kane and Mike Ploog, he’ll expand the mythos and mystery surrounding Jack Russell and his family’s connection to the demonic Darkhold. Wolfman brings Dracula into the mix and introduces the mystifying Topaz, a woman who will soon have our hero’s heart. Meanwhile, the Committee’s schemes escalate as Mike Friedrich takes the podium and Don Perlin becomes series artist. They’ll introduce another werewolf to vex, or perhaps aid, Jack Russell. Also featuring the Werewolf vs. Werewoman as Greer Nelson becomes Tigra for the first time and iconic series writer Doug Moench’s debut!

MARVEL CLOSES OUT ITS SOFTCOVER MASTERWORKS WITH THE ROY THOMAS AND GIL KANE’S WARLOCK!

In 1972, Marvel Comics marched into a new era — an era in which super heroes increasingly reflected the world’s turmoil and social unrest. And the hero for that era was the newly christened Adam Warlock! The character previously known as “Him” with the sublime Soul Gem was launched on a wild ride across the cosmos to Counter-Earth. Hastened by the High Evolutionary to become the savior of this parallel planet, Warlock must rally humanity against the evil of the Man-Beast!

GHOST RIDER MAKES HIS BLAZING MASTERWORKS DEBUT IN 2019!

Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider, makes his Marvel Masterworks debut!

In 1972, one of the most iconic characters in comic book history, the flame-skulled Ghost Rider, burned his demonic presence into readers’ minds. Forevermore, a legion of fans were addicted to the Rider’s combination of hell-on-wheels drama and action-horror adventure. And it all begins here when Johnny Blaze makes a deal with the devil to save his friend’s life. The payment? Transformation into the Ghost Rider. The stories that follow will take the horror hero to Hell to battle Satan, pit him against the tempting Witch-Woman and team him with Daimon Hellstrom, Son of Satan. Written by Gary Friedrich and gloriously illustrated by Mike Ploog, Tom Sutton and Jim Mooney, this iconic series is beautifully restored for this Marvel Masterworks edition.

WHO SAYS A MASTERWORKS HAS TO BE GOOD?

When Stan Lee set the tone for the Marvel Age of Comics it came with a healthy dose of humor. When fans demanded more of that Marvel mayhem, Stan, along with Jack Kirby, Gene Colan and the Bullpen’s mistress of mirth, Marie Severin, turned the dial up to 11 and let loose! What came blasting out was the masterpiece of Silver Age satire Not Brand Echh. Each issue came packed with Marvel’s greatest talents taking a sideways look at the super heroes they made famous (and even some that they didn’t!) Now, Charlie America, Scaredevil, the Revengers, Sore Son of Shmodin, the Sunk-Mariner and the one and only Forbush Man are coming at you in this unprecedented enormous Marvel Masterworks!
