STEVE DITKO’S LAST AND JOHN ROMITA’S FIRST SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURES LOOK BETTER THAN EVER IN REMASTERWORKS!

Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created an unabashed cultural phenomenon in The Amazing Spider-Man. Their blend of everyday woes and super-heroic exploits was something undeniably special. And after years of perfecting that formula, they unleashed their Spider-Man masterpiece—the Master Planner saga. With the clock ticking and Aunt May’s life on the line, Stan and Steve put Spider-Man through the most wrenching experience of his career and define a hero in the process. They’ll also introduce you to Gwen Stacy for the very first time and show you around the campus at E.S.U. before a new talent joins the Spider-Man team. In John Romita’s legendry debut story, Spidey’s secret identity is uncovered by the Green Goblin. Peter Parker finds himself fighting for his life only to discover the Goblin is none other than Norman Osborn.

SILVER SURFER VOL. 1 GETS THE REMASTERWORKS TREATMENT IN 2025!

Back in hardcover, beautifully restored to match the original comics and boasting expanded bonus material!

The Silver Surfer ranks among the greatest Marvel comics of all time. Stan Lee’s socially-charged scripts and John Buscema’s sublimely powerful artwork made the series and the character global icons. This Marvel Masterworks will reveal the Surfer’s origin, unleash alien invasions, introduce the utterly evil icon Mephisto and feature what is considered by many to be the most beautifully rendered story in Marvel history, The Silver Surfer #4’s epic war with Thor! These double-length issues explore complexities of humankind as the Surfer grapples with his own existential inner turmoil. Also including the Surfer’s first solo adventure from the pages of Fantastic Four Annual #5. This edition features an all-new restoration from original artwork and the highest-quality sources in Marvel’s archive.

Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz lay a trail of clues that leads to…the Hobgoblin! The heir apparent to #1 nemesis in Spider-Man’s life and the Goblin mantle has been a compelling mystery since his debut. When his shocking identity is revealed, will you be able to believe it? And when the cosmic Beyonder returns, Peter Parker and the Puma will pair to face him with Mephisto waiting in the wings. Spidey’s exploits will also bring him back to his early days and Crusher Hogan, the pro wrestler he grappled with way back in Amazing Fantasy #15. And topping off this Masterworks volume is the stunning painted art and color of Bernie Wrightson in the Spider-Man graphic novel Hooky.

FEBRUARY 1964: MARVEL INTRODUCES A MAN WITHOUT FEAR!

Marvel is proud to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Daredevil with an Omnibus collecting every Marvel comic released in the month of his February 1964 debut! DD presented a rougher, gritter take on the super hero with young Matt Murdock growing up on the wrong side of the tracks with a father on the hook with the mob. Stan Lee and Bill Everett crafted a brilliant blend of crime, action and super heroics that has built the foundation for one of Marvel’s greatest characters. But what else was happening in that historic month? Well, Marvel boasted a wonderfully engaging mix romance, teen humor, Westerns and, of course, the growing stable of increasingly interconnected Marvel super heroes! Take a trip back to the spinner rack and relive them all in the Marvel: February 1964 Omnibus!

Where were you in June of 1962? We know where Spider-Man was: Making his historic debut in Amazing Fantasy #15. But that wasn’t the only thing going in that all-important month in Marvel history: Thor first held aloft the hammer Mjolnir. Hank Pym donned his cybernetic helmet becoming Ant-Man. The FF squared off against Namor and Doctor Doom. Kid Colt mixed it up with the Circus of Crime. Millie the Model got mixed up in more Hanover hijinks. Patsy and Hedy worked on their frenemy-ship. Star-crossed lovers dealt with the ups and downs of romance, all while tales of horror and fantasy stories crept from the pages of titles like Strange Tales. Marvel: June 1962 Omnibus collects every comic from this month of Marvel milestones!

IN SEARCH OF THE STONE TABLET!

It’s time for another round of webslinging wonderment by two of the men who put the “master” in Masterworks, Stan “The Man” Lee and “Jazzy” John Romita. They’ll be coming at you in this arachnid’s eighth volume with a storyline as epic as they come: The Saga of the Stone Tablet!

All the swingin’ calamity and social consciousness kicks off with the Kingpin’s quest to decipher an ancient clay tablet whose secrets promise great power. Poor ol’ Spidey gets into the mix and after saving the day finds himself branded Public Enemy No. 1 (‘natch). With the Kingpin on one side and J. Jonah Jameson turning up the heat in the Daily Bugle, things go from bad to horrible with the introduction of Man-Mountain Marko and Maggia bossman, Silvermane. It’s a Peter Parker pressure cooker that only gets turned up from there!

Also featuring battles with Quicksilver, the Shocker, and the Lizard along with an extra-special bonus, the 1968 Stan Lee/Ross Andru Spidey yarn from Marvel Super-Heroes #14.

EXCERPTS FROM THE INTRODUCTION BY JOHN ROMITA SR.

Show Excerpt (289 More Words)

“Everything Stan Lee aimed for in The Amazing Spider-Man finds its way into the stories you will enjoy in this Masterworks.

The setting for the opening issue is Empire State University in the midst of student riots, which were a common occurence in the late ’60s. Randy Robertson, son of the Daily Bugle’s Robbie Robertson, and his fellow students are at an impasse with officials at the school.

Social relevance that reflects the times – right up Stan’s alley. There’s even a bit with a fiery Gwen Stacy defending Peter Parker’s image!

The Kingpin of Crime sets out to obtain a priceless stone tablet (which we based on the Rosetta Stone from antiquity) on display at the University. Using the riots as a cover, th Kingpin succeeds and makes off with the tablet. And that’s just the beginning of the saga that leads us on a wild ride as the tablet moves through many hands.

Along the way, we encounter Quicksilver, the Shocker, a close call for Gwen’s father, Captain Stacy, an even closer call for J. Jonah Jameson, Man Mountain Marko, Dr. Curt Connors, a.k.a. the Lizard, and Silvermane, whose final fate is a wonder to behold. And, of course, Spidey goes through more than his share of trouble as he follows the trail of the stone tablet.

You would think, after hearing that outline, that Stan and I planned all of this in advance with each and every twist carefully plotted and orchestrated. I can assure you that was not the case at all! In our story sessions we set out to plot on issue at a time, but we’d be happy just to make it through one hour without interruption. Our aim was to get a complete story in one month…”

INTRODUCING THE PROWLER, THE SCHEMER AND A BOLD, NEW BLACK WIDOW!

Well tickle my webs and call it time for another offering of the greatest, friendliest, webslingingest super hero of all – the Amazing Spider-Man! The adventures Stan “The Man” and the Jazzy One, John Romita, have in store for you in this ten-spot of tales are enough to make even ol’ J. Jonah Jameson fall in love with Spidey. (Well, maybe not!) But that means you’ve no competition for a date with the likes of the Prowler in his first appearance; the beautiful Black Widow seen for the first time in her sultry new spy gear; an underworld family in-fight between the Kingpin and the Schemer – including Vanessa Fisk’s entrée into Marveldom; and the Chameleon, Electro and the Kangaroo – an assemblage that’s always the bridesmaid but never the bride.

It’s not just the most colorful array of villains in comics, of course! There’s melodrama aplenty in the fashion that could only befit poor Peter Parker. See how Mr. Luckless himself handles not only the loss of his powers and glowing Gwen’s fear of Spidey, but how he wiggles his way out of revealing his identity right before Gwen, MJ, and the gang’s very eyes! We’ll be waiting, so don’t forget that corsage, most Fearless Front Facer!
