MARC SILVESTRI STARTS HIS X-MEN LEGACY!

Marc Silvestri’s uncanny legacy as an X-Men artist begins here! The artist who would define a new era of mutant drama kicks things off with the X-Men vs. Avengers limited series, in which Magneto is summoned to trial for crimes against humanity. Can the Avengers bring him to justice? And why are the X-Men standing in their way? Next, Alan Davis draws an epic Annual introducing the alien force named Horde. Then, as regular artist of The Uncanny X-Men, Silvestri joins with mutant maestro Chris Claremont for a run of legendary stories. Their iconic “Fall of the Mutants” storyline changed everything for the X-Men. With many team members missing and presumed dead, mutantkind regroups in Australia, becoming targets of the mysterious Reavers!

ROGER STERN WRAPS UP HIS SPECTACULAR RUN AND BILL MANTLO INTRODUCES CLOAK AND DAGGER!

Roger Stern’s seminal run on Spectacular Spider-Man concludes and Bill Mantlo returns for a second fan favorite stint! After a run-in with the Jack O’ Lantern, Spider-Man must protect Marla Madison (scientist and J. Jonah Jameson’s one true love) from the deadly Will O’ the Wisp. The Ringer menaces Spidey’s world in a tale drawn by John Byrne, setting up a double-sized issue featuring Stern’s retelling of Spidey’s origin. Then, Bill Mantlo comes aboard, pitting Spidey against a cavalcade of his deadliest rogues: Kraven, Electro and the Molten Man! And in one of the most timeless tales of Spectacular history, teen-runaways-turned-heroes Cloak and Dagger make their first appearance! Plus: An Annual that takes Spidey to the “Dark Side of the Moon” with Man-Wolf!

IRON MAN MEETS THE DEMON IN THE BOTTLE!

Many have lent their talents to The Invincible Iron Man, but few—if any—have had a greater impact than the creative trio of David Michelinie, Bob Layton and John Romita Jr. has. They remade Iron Man with new co-stars—including Jim Rhodes, the future War Machine—and new armors, but more important than anything else, a new, character-defining take on the man inside the armor. Their Tony Stark is a hero not because of the extent of his technological wizardry, but because of his perseverance in the face of his own personal failings. This beautifully restored Marvel Masterworks edition presents the beginning of the reinvention of a Marvel icon, culminating in the classic “Demon in a Bottle.”

Celebrating the women of Marvel, we present the debut of the one and only Dazzler! Leaping from the pages of X-MEN and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Alison Blaire, a.k.a. Dazzler, debuted in her own series — one of the comic book direct market’s very first exclusive offerings — and put audiences on their feet. Equal parts pop star and super hero, she broke new ground and faced some of the Marvel’s Universe’s greatest powers, from Hulk to Doctor Doom and Galactus, all while fighting against a wave of anti-mutant hysteria. Dazzler also pits her sound-based powers against Klaw, finds herself fighting for her life in prison and contends with every creep in the record business. Don’t hold back, go for it — reserve your copy today!

THE ROGER STERN ERA BEGINS IN A CLASSIC RUN OF HULK COMICS!

Bruce Banner’s in the big city and New Yorkers are earning their reputation for not being the friendliest bunch. The Quintronic Man, the Constrictor and Jack of Hearts all have it out for Banner and that means the Hulk’s gonna take a gamma-green bite out of the Big Apple. Then, Hulk heads upstate, straight up, to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to battle the Bi-Beast. Both brutes are presumed dead in the aftermath, which means some peace for Hulk. Not really, because no man is an island. When Hulk washes up ashore, trouble comes to him in writer Roger Stern’s debut. Also featuring monster and mystic team-ups with Doctor Strange and Doctor Druid and a classic Jim Starlin tale!

IRON MAN MASTERWORKS REACHES AN UNDERRATED RUN BY BILL MANTLO!

It’s time for an upgrade! Iron Man increases his armor’s power as his title gains a powerful new writer: Bill Mantlo. Never before collected, Mantlo’s run delved into Tony Stark’s supporting cast, added a dose of industrial intrigue and brought back iconic adversaries. It begins with accusations of Stark Industries bribing U.S. senators, gets dangerous with the return of Ultimo and reaches fever pitch when an all-new Guardsman comes calling. Next, in the lead-up to issue #100, Sunfire pits heat against iron in the prelude to the return of the Mandarin. Then, the mysterious Madame Masque and the Jack of Hearts enter the fray. And we wrap up with an out-of-this-world battle for Wundagore.
