THE MACABRE MAN-THING MAKES HIS DEBUT IN MARVEL MASTERWORKS!

From the fetid of the swamps of the south, comes the Man-Thing! The brilliant Dr. Ted Sallis’ progress on a new Super-Solider Serum gained the envious attention of A.I.M. One untested injection and a hot-pursuit car crash into the swamp later, Sallis is forever changed. He is now the Man-Thing, a lumbering creature with the searing power to burn those who know fear! Under writer Steve Gerber this concept became a 1970s comic book classic. Mixing horror, occult and the Marvel Universe, Gerber’s unique narrative concoctions could produce taut morality tales, biting social commentary, a budding sorceress, the Nexus of All Realties and Howard the Duck! And with the top-flight restoration of the Marvel Masterworks, the muck monster has never looked better—or worse…bad in a good way, that is!

And just wait’ll you see the truly offbeat Death-Riders from Beyond!
CONAN IN RAW BLACK AND WHITE!

Savage Sword of Conan, the cornerstone of Marvel’s black-and-white magazine line, offered up stories of fiction’s most famous barbarian unencumbered by the Comics Code. With the rules of civilized publishing cast off, Savage Sword presented ferocious, untamed tales the likes of which Conan himself would approve. Writer Roy Thomas and artistic greats, including John Buscema and Neal Adams, took full advantage and the results were a sensation. Multipart sagas like “The People of the Black Circle” luxuriate in extended tellings, while a Buscema take on “The Tower of the Elephant” explores the nuance an all-time Robert E. Howard classic. And we’re topping it off with Marvel Comics Super Special #2, a tale of vengeance lavished with fully painted coloring.

THE ROGER STERN ERA BEGINS IN A CLASSIC RUN OF HULK COMICS!

Bruce Banner’s in the big city and New Yorkers are earning their reputation for not being the friendliest bunch. The Quintronic Man, the Constrictor and Jack of Hearts all have it out for Banner and that means the Hulk’s gonna take a gamma-green bite out of the Big Apple. Then, Hulk heads upstate, straight up, to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to battle the Bi-Beast. Both brutes are presumed dead in the aftermath, which means some peace for Hulk. Not really, because no man is an island. When Hulk washes up ashore, trouble comes to him in writer Roger Stern’s debut. Also featuring monster and mystic team-ups with Doctor Strange and Doctor Druid and a classic Jim Starlin tale!

Crom! This inaugural volume ushers in Marvel’s line of definitive Savage Sword of Conan collections. Full-color covers, letters pages, pinups, extensive articles and reviews on Conan, his world and his creator — everything’s included and no one is spared the vengeance of Conan! After the breakout success of Conan’s color comic, Marvel brought the legendary sword-and-sorcery saga of Robert E. Howard’s hero to its black-and-white magazine line. In lushly illustrated novel-length adventures with all the drama, violence and allure the comic book medium can offer, writer Roy Thomas and Marvel’s greatest artists craft a host of Conan classics like Barry Windsor-Smith’s “Red Nails” and John Buscema’s “Black Colossus” and “A Witch Shall Be Born” featuring the infamous Tree of Death are just the beginning!

IRON MAN MASTERWORKS REACHES AN UNDERRATED RUN BY BILL MANTLO!

It’s time for an upgrade! Iron Man increases his armor’s power as his title gains a powerful new writer: Bill Mantlo. Never before collected, Mantlo’s run delved into Tony Stark’s supporting cast, added a dose of industrial intrigue and brought back iconic adversaries. It begins with accusations of Stark Industries bribing U.S. senators, gets dangerous with the return of Ultimo and reaches fever pitch when an all-new Guardsman comes calling. Next, in the lead-up to issue #100, Sunfire pits heat against iron in the prelude to the return of the Mandarin. Then, the mysterious Madame Masque and the Jack of Hearts enter the fray. And we wrap up with an out-of-this-world battle for Wundagore.

Ka-Zar the Lord of the Hidden Jungle meets Shanna the She-Devil for the very first time in this massive Marvel Masterworks! These two heroes were from separate realms, but after both rejected the modern world and its concrete canyons it was inevitable their paths would cross deep in the jungle. Ka-Zar must first conquer a madman powered by the Super-Soldier serum, the twin villain Gemini, and Ka-Zar’s brother the Plunderer, while Shanna hunts her father’s killers, explores the jungle’s mysteries and battles the Mandrill and priestess Nekra. After their paths diverge, Ka-Zar will encounter an evolved incarnation of his Savage Land nemesis in adventures with Bobbi Morse, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent known as Mockingbird. Meanwhile, Shanna completes her quest to avenge her father alongside Daredevil.
