MARVEL’S PREMIER 80s ANTHOLOGY COLLECTED COMPLETE FOR THE FIRST TIME!

• Featuring stories and art by the greatest talents in the comics industry!
• The Marvel Fanfare Omnibus will collect the series in complete form for the first time ever.
• With work by Frank Miller (Daredevil, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), George Pérez (The Infinity Gauntlet) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy) Marvel Fanfare has top-tier art and wide audience appeal.
• Marvel Fanfare featured innovative art and production methods that will look better than ever in this painstakingly restored Omnibus.

In 1982, the comics industry was making rapid advances. The door to higher-quality, prestige titles had been opened and Marvel Fanfare planted the flag, declaring it the place to be seen. The series gave industry’s greatest creators — like Frank Miller, Barry Windsor-Smith, Chris Claremont and Michael Golden — a chance to make singular statements on Marvel icons like Captain America, the Thing and Spider-Man. New talents like Mike Mignola and Charles Vess could take their shot for an issue and gain break-out success. And groundbreaking talents like Bill Sienkiewicz could steal the scene with a gallery of pinups that redefined characters in a single image. Marvel Fanfare also boasted beautiful, fully-painted stories and cutting-edge new innovations in coloring. Each issue was a bounty of artistic excellence and a statement on the future of comics. Marvel is proud to collect the complete Marvel Fanfare in this first of three Omnibus volumes.

THE MACABRE MAN-THING MAKES HIS DEBUT IN MARVEL MASTERWORKS!

From the fetid of the swamps of the south, comes the Man-Thing! The brilliant Dr. Ted Sallis’ progress on a new Super-Solider Serum gained the envious attention of A.I.M. One untested injection and a hot-pursuit car crash into the swamp later, Sallis is forever changed. He is now the Man-Thing, a lumbering creature with the searing power to burn those who know fear! Under writer Steve Gerber this concept became a 1970s comic book classic. Mixing horror, occult and the Marvel Universe, Gerber’s unique narrative concoctions could produce taut morality tales, biting social commentary, a budding sorceress, the Nexus of All Realties and Howard the Duck! And with the top-flight restoration of the Marvel Masterworks, the muck monster has never looked better—or worse…bad in a good way, that is!

Reprinted for the first time ever! Marvel’s second Micronauts Omnibus begins with an explosive six-part origin of the Microverse. Commander Rann and his band of freedom fighters must find three keys to stave off a time of darkness while remaining one step ahead of the mad King Argon. To do that, they’ll need help. Enter: Doctor Strange. The Micronauts will also discover a pair of new recruits: the friendly but ferocious Devil and his companion Fireflyte. In a return to Earth, our heroes end up in the X-Men’s Danger Room, pursued by the killer metamorph, Huntarr. The action reaches a crescendo as the Micronauts are drawn back to Homeworld once again to fight against Argon—and Baron Karza.

Werewolf by Wolfman? That’s right, the man born to write Werewolf by Night—Marv Wolfman—takes the writing reins on Marvel’s moon-cursed monster in this Masterworks. Together with artists Gil Kane and Mike Ploog, he’ll expand the mythos and mystery surrounding Jack Russell and his family’s connection to the demonic Darkhold. Wolfman brings Dracula into the mix and introduces the mystifying Topaz, a woman who will soon have our hero’s heart. Meanwhile, the Committee’s schemes escalate as Mike Friedrich takes the podium and Don Perlin becomes series artist. They’ll introduce another werewolf to vex, or perhaps aid, Jack Russell. Also featuring the Werewolf vs. Werewoman as Greer Nelson becomes Tigra for the first time and iconic series writer Doug Moench’s debut!

In this massive Omnibus collection, writer Michael Fleisher hits his stride with a series of mold-breaking Conan tales like “The Temple of the Twelve-Eyed Thing,” “Demons of the Firelight” and “Dominion of the Bat,” illustrated by top talents including Alfredo Alcala, Ernie Chan and, of course, the one and only John Buscema! Meanwhile, X-Men superstar Chris Claremont pens an adventure that pits Conan against the minions of Thoth-Amon in a tour de force drawn by Val Mayerik. Conan legend Roy Thomas is also on hand to tell solo stories of Conan’s “Red Nails” colleague, Valeria. Rounding out this volume are the conclusion of John Buscema’s “Bront” and extensive articles on, and the comic book adaptation of, the blockbuster Conan the Barbarian film!

SPIDER-MAN’S MILESTONE 10TH VOLUME!

Prepare yourself for a collection of no-holds-barred Spider-Man classics that defined comicdom’s favorite super hero unlike any other! Starting off with the return of one of Spidey’s oldest foes, Doctor Octopus, the two archenemies set into motion a gut-wrenching series of events leading to the death of Captain George Stacy. Ally to Spider-Man and father to Peter Parker’s ladylove, Gwen, Captain Stacy’s death marks Spidey for murder and pits the entire city against him.

Now with hero, villain, and even the man-on-the-street after him, there’s no moment for rest for the ol’ Webslinger as he wriggles his through threats from the X-Men’s Iceman to the politicking Sam Bullit and former friend, the Prowler. And it all leads into one of the landmark moments of Marvel history, the Comics Code defying “drug” issues.

There’s no question Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics strove for a relevance that the competition could only dream of, and with Amazing Spider-Man #96-98 that mission was placed front and center—Peter Parker’s best friend, Harry Osborn, was revealed to be a drug addict. Letting a battle with Spidey’s nemesis, the Green Goblin, take back seat to the personal drama that scourged the real-life streets of the reader’s world, the Lee/Kane/Romita team set a new standard for the mainstream’s relevance.

Stan Lee pens some of his greatest scripts, chock full of edge-of-you-seat drama and up-to-the-moment politics, while the incomparable artistic team-up of John Romita and Gil Kane, launch into the most lavishly-illustrated and panel-bursting artwork to ever grace the pages of a Marvel comic. There’s no denying it, True Believer, these are Masterworks one and all!

100 ISSUES…6 ARMS…1 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!!!

The Marvel Masterworks celebrate Spider-Man’s centennial bow with ten classic Spidey adventures created by a quartet of the greatest talents in comics’ history!

Stan Lee and Gil Kane start it off with Peter Parker’s attempt to cure himself from his spider-powers gone horribly wrong. Yes, it’s the six-armed Spider-Man! And he’ll need the extra arms to handle Morbius the Living Vampire, in his first appearance, and the cold rage of Lizard. Rascally Roy Thomas joins the fray and then takes Spidey and his bikini-clad gal, Gwen Stacy, into the forgotten jungle known as the Savage Land to face towering beasts, Kraven the Hunter, and J. Jonah Jameson to boot!

When Stan returns the Spider Slayer comes with him, and right behind him is the talented pencil of John Romita. In what Romita cites as the favorite artwork of his storied Spidey career, Stan and the Jazzy One leap into an adventure teaming up Spidey and Doctor Strange against a mystic threat from Vietnam while Flash Thompson’s life hangs in the balance!

Comics don’t come better than this, so reserve that copy today, True Believer!

A HULK, A HAMMERHEAD, AN OCTOPUS AND A SPIDER!

The tension-torn adventures of comics’ most put-upon super hero, the Amazing Spider-Man, continue in another round of Marvel Masterworks classics! Stan Lee kicks it off with one of his craziest creations of all time, the Gibbon. And when that bestial baddy teams up with the vengeful Kraven the Hunter – well, it’s enough excitement to give a hero an ulcer…and it does!

Then, words between Peter’s lovely gal Gwen and Aunt May push his doting aunt out of his life and into the arms of…an octopus! Doc Ock returns to do in Spidey, but with Hammerhead, the only gangster with more steel in his dome than in his gun, waging a turf war to take over the city it’s open season on spiders!

Always a man of the people, Spidey uncovers the machinations of a mayoral candidate who’s not quite what he seems. Let’s just say there’s no doubt Richard Raleigh put the “action” in political action, alright? And topping it off comes a knuckle-busting, knock-down, drag-out fight between Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk that’s one for the ages!

SPIDEY VS. THE GOBLIN’S RETURN!

There’s no doubting that Peter Parker has never had it easy.
Exhibit A: Teetering on the edge of sanity since the death of his father Norman (a.k.a. the Green Goblin), Harry Osborn goes off the deep end and takes up the mantle of Spidey’s nemesis. With his best friend out to kill him, it’s an edge-of-your-seat encounter that will redefine the Webslinger’s world for decades to come.

And just to keep things interesting, the Tarantula makes his debut; the Punisher returns; Mindworm, Grizzly, Mysterio and the Jackal pile on, and guess what? You’ve got yourself another helping of Spidey Masterworks!
