Then things get truly personal in a saga with the Silver Samaurai and Viper that has shocking implications for Jessica’s parentage! Chris Claremont and Steve Leialoha then make way for the new creative team of Ann Nocenti and Brian Postman.
John Romita Jr. joins Chris Claremont as the Uncanny X-Men’s chart-topping adventures continue! Drama abounds as Cyclops heads off on his honeymoon with Madelyne Pryor, Wolverine’s relationship with Mariko takes a turn for the worse, and Kitty Pryde is kidnapped and forced to marry the Morlock Caliban. Meanwhile, Rogue is public enemy number one and anti-mutant sentiment threatens the passage of a law that will strip every mutant in the United States of their rights. There’s no shortage of action either: Colossus battles Juggernaut, Mystique and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants return, Rachel Summers arrives on the scene, and the Dire Wraiths attack. Topped off by Claremont and Barry Windsor-Smith’s stunning classic story “Lifedeath” and the Magik miniseries, there’s no shortage of mutant masterworks!

Chris Claremont weaves complex plots and compelling characterization in our second Ms. Marvel Masterworks, concluding her original adventures. The highlights are many: Ms. Marvel meets the Avengers for the very first time. Mystique makes her first appearance. A battle with Ronan the Accuser brings Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel together and leads to an all-new look for our heroine! Encounters with underground lizard-men, Deathbird, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Sabretooth set the stage for a controversial Avengers saga and a life-altering battle with Mystique and Rogue. The story reaches its epic conclusion in a Marvel milestone including Ms. Marvel, the X-Men and the Avengers!

The year was 1977 and Marvel was set to debut it’s latest and greatest new super heroine. NASA Security Chief Carol Danvers’ life had long been intertwined with the alien Kree’s interventions on Earth. But now it was time for this new woman in a new era to take on a new persona all her own—Ms. Marvel!

As editor of Woman magazine, Danvers must contend with the Marvel Universe’s biggest blowhard, J. Jonah Jameson, while discovering her identity and origins as a super hero. Chris Claremont, continuing the series begun by Gerry Conway, brings to bear all the craft and character development of his renown X-Men run, while Jim Mooney, John Buscema and Joe Sinnott supply some of the most stunning art of the era.

AN UNCANNY MASTERWORKS TO START 2011!

It’s a lucky seventh volume chock full of memorable X-Men moments by the classic creator combo of Claremont and Cockrum! First up, Kitty’s leaving the School For Gifted Youngsters. Her new academic destination? The Massachusetts Academy, run by none other than Emma Frost, the Hellfire Club’s White Queen – setting up the inevitable showdown between the X-Men and Sebastian Shaw’s minions, with a classic, no-holds-barred, Storm/Emma catfight in the clouds!

Next, it’s the immortal “Kitty’s Fairy Tale,” a storybook fantasy that introduced Kitty’s loyal pet dragon, the lovable Lockheed! Then, the first half of the all-time great “Brood Saga,” with four-issues of space operatics starring the Starjammers, the Shi’Ar, and those disgusting parasites from beyond the outer limits, the Brood!

Topping off this marvelous mutant Masterworks is the return of Rogue and Mystique’s Evil Mutants and the coming of Dracula in a tale only Bill Sienkiewicz could draw! Throw in a double-sized annual team-up with the X-Men and Fantastic Four combining forces against the Badoon, and, just because we love ya, Avengers Annual #10, featuring the first appearance of Rogue and her pivotal meeting with Ms. Marvel, and this is indeed the most masterful way to start off a blockbuster new year of Marvel Masterworks!
