MARVEL’S PREMIER 80s ANTHOLOGY COLLECTED COMPLETE FOR THE FIRST TIME!

• Featuring stories and art by the greatest talents in the comics industry!
• The Marvel Fanfare Omnibus will collect the series in complete form for the first time ever.
• With work by Frank Miller (Daredevil, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), George Pérez (The Infinity Gauntlet) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy) Marvel Fanfare has top-tier art and wide audience appeal.
• Marvel Fanfare featured innovative art and production methods that will look better than ever in this painstakingly restored Omnibus.

In 1982, the comics industry was making rapid advances. The door to higher-quality, prestige titles had been opened and Marvel Fanfare planted the flag, declaring it the place to be seen. The series gave industry’s greatest creators — like Frank Miller, Barry Windsor-Smith, Chris Claremont and Michael Golden — a chance to make singular statements on Marvel icons like Captain America, the Thing and Spider-Man. New talents like Mike Mignola and Charles Vess could take their shot for an issue and gain break-out success. And groundbreaking talents like Bill Sienkiewicz could steal the scene with a gallery of pinups that redefined characters in a single image. Marvel Fanfare also boasted beautiful, fully-painted stories and cutting-edge new innovations in coloring. Each issue was a bounty of artistic excellence and a statement on the future of comics. Marvel is proud to collect the complete Marvel Fanfare in this first of three Omnibus volumes.

Combining a cosmic scope with a heartfelt, earthbound humanism, John Byrne’s run on Fantastic Four remains a high point in Marvel history. Marvel Masterworks continues its collection of that epic era, pitting the FF against Terrax the Terrible, the former herald of Galactus now in the thrall of Doctor Doom! Then, the classic “Trial of Reed Richards” puts the FF’s leader in the stand of a Shi’ar courtroom for the crime of rescuing the god-killer Galactus! The Torch and Thing take on the Mole Man, the Beyonder cometh and welcome to the FF, She-Hulk! Plus: In one of the most emotional stories in comics history, a desperate Reed and Sue place the fate of their unborn child in the hands of Otto Octavius.

ALAN DAVIS DEBUTS PSYLOCKE – PLUS, A MUTANT MASSACRE!

In his very first work for Marvel in the US, iconic artist Alan Davis delivers on a double-sized New Mutants Annual that introduces Psylocke to the world of the X-Men! She’s on board in Uncanny X-Men when Sabretooth and the Marauders go on the hunt for Morlocks—and they don’t mind slaying any X-Men who get in the way. The Mutant Massacre event would set a high-water mark for X-Men storytelling! Longshot joins the X-Men with the New Mutants as they take on Mojo in an Annual drawn by Arthur Adams! Meanwhile, Kitty Pryde is slowly disintegrating, leading the X-Men to make a deal with Doctor Doom to save her. Needless to say, the Fantastic Four have something to say about that!

It’s all in the family for Cyclops as his son Nathan Summers—A.K.A. Cable—is born and his “Day of Future Past” daughter Rachel comes to terms with her Phoenix Force powers. Storm duels Scott for team leadership as the threat of the Beyonder looms. Nightcrawler takes a solo turn in an adventure beautifully drawn by June Brigman, while Barry Windsor-Smith crafts a brutal Wolverine tale. And a showdown between Wolverine and Phoenix presages war with the Hellfire Club and Nimrod! Plus: Ann Nocenti and Arthur Adams’ quintessentially ’80s miniseries introducing the dimension-spanning adventurer and future X-Man Longshot is restored for the Masterworks!

CONAN IN RAW BLACK AND WHITE!

Savage Sword of Conan, the cornerstone of Marvel’s black-and-white magazine line, offered up stories of fiction’s most famous barbarian unencumbered by the Comics Code. With the rules of civilized publishing cast off, Savage Sword presented ferocious, untamed tales the likes of which Conan himself would approve. Writer Roy Thomas and artistic greats, including John Buscema and Neal Adams, took full advantage and the results were a sensation. Multipart sagas like “The People of the Black Circle” luxuriate in extended tellings, while a Buscema take on “The Tower of the Elephant” explores the nuance an all-time Robert E. Howard classic. And we’re topping it off with Marvel Comics Super Special #2, a tale of vengeance lavished with fully painted coloring.

CONAN AND BIG JOHN BUSCEMA CONNECT IN CONAN OMNIBUS VOL. 2!

The legend of Conan continues! Tired of the thieving life, Conan signs on as a mercenary for the warring kingdom of Turan. The enemy will tell of Conan’s legendary skill in battle — if any of them live to tell the tale — but palace intrigue may prove more dangerous to the barbarian. After all, it’s never wise to bed a wizard’s woman. Then, Conan joins with Red Sonja for a multipart adventure. Last, but far from least, we present Roy Thomas and Gil Kane’s never-before-reprinted GIANT-SIZE adaptation of “The Hour of the Dragon,” the iconic story of how Conan became king and conqueror and met the woman who would become his wife. And it’s all restored to the original coloring!

MAKE WAY FOR CONAN IN HIS FIRST MARVEL OMNIBUS EDITION!

The greatest saga in sword-and-sorcery history begins — the saga of Conan! Born on a battlefield in the frozen lands of Cimmeria, Conan fights his way through the untamed Hyborian kingdoms, sparing no man, woman or wizard his wrath. His adventures will become legend. He will become king. Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith brought Robert E. Howard’s iconic creation to four-color life with work that set new standards for comic book storytelling. Marvel is honored to present each story, each cover and each letters page — all painstakingly restored to match the majesty of the original editions. In these early exploits, Conan ventures from his homeland for the first time, honing his skills as a thief, mercenary, pirate and above all, warrior!
