Marvel Masterworks Editor In Search Of Original Fantastic Four #256-257/Annual #17 John Byrne Art

Marvel Masterworks Editor Cory Sedlmeier is busy at work on the next installment of the Fantastic Four Masterworks series, which he hopes will be an upgrade on the previous reprints of this material from the FF Omnibus published in 2013. To do that, he needs to get his hands on the original art from a trio of issues: Fantastic Four #256-257 and Fantastic Four Annual #17. As Sedlmeier commented in a post on the CollectedEditions.com forum:

Hi Everyone,

Not to get all announcement spoilery, but it should come as no surprise that I’m working on the next FF Masterworks featuring John Byrne’s run. As ever, the Masterworks pull out all the stops to achieve the best possible restoration of Marvel’s classics.

I’ve scored the complete original art to FF #255 and a number of other pages. They will look better than ever before, including the original comicbook printings, but there are more pages to be found. I’m on the hunt for original art scans for FANTASTIC FOUR #256-257 and ANNUAL #17

What I’m looking for are 600dpi color scans at full-size saved in .TIF format. These issues were done at huge twice-up size, so scanning the pages in two sections (or even three passes–one for each tier of panels–with a little overlap) will be necessary.

You can reach me at csedlmeier [at] marvel.com. My deadline for scans is May 21st.

Thanks and please feel free to share this call for original art on other forums! Every page counts!

Best,
Cory

Here’s hoping fans and collectors with this material will come through and help the Masterworks shine. On a personal note, FF Annual #17 is one of my favorite stories ever, so I have a vested interest in this Masterworks looking el primo!

If you have this material, or know someone who does, please connect with Cory and do your part!
