Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 2 HC to Get “Top to Bottom Overhaul” in New Printing

As mooted in a recent Near Mint Condition video and certified in Marvel’s recent solicits, there will be a new, back-to-press edition of Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 2 HC. This volume collects arguably the creative peak of Stan Lee/Jack Kirby’s run on Fantastic Four. Okay, it’s not arguable. It IS the creative peak of their run from 1961-1970, as it includes the first appearances of iconic characters such as Medusa, Black Bolt and the Inhumans; Silver Surfer and Galactus; and Black Panther; plus epic storylines like “The Galactus Trilogy,” the hidden world of Wakanda, Daredevil’s team-up with the FF to stop Doctor Doom, the emergence of the Frightful Four as the FF’s earthbound nemesis, and one of the greatest single-issue stories ever, the Ben Grimm showstopper “This Man, This Monster.” Throw in a pair of Annuals that featured the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, and the first team-up between the Human Torches of the Silver and Golden Age, and the “Greatness” that made FF “Marvel’s Greatest Comics” simply doesn’t quit.

If this was just a simple back-to-press edition, the only thing newsworthy about it would be alerting people who missed out on the rare first edition. But volume editor Cory Sedlmeier shared the news that this edition will finally get the attention its long deserved. In a thread at the MARVEL MASTERWORKS FORUM, he tipped his hat about Marvel’s plans:

“The restoration on FF Omnibus Vol. 2 will be getting a top to bottom overhaul!”

What does that mean? It means that this volume’s contents, which includes Fantastic Four #31-60 and Annuals #3-4, will receive the full benefit of Marvel’s overhaul of its film library, a key development in giving editors like Sedlmeier the ability to create sparkling remastered editions of these classic comics so they look better than ever before.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 2 HC comes in regular and variant cover editions (Kirby=Regular/Ladronn=Variant) and will be priced at $125.00 USD. It is scheduled to hit store shelves in July 2021, so be ready to make a pre-order!
