As we all know, the comic book industry has been turned upside down in 2020 due to COVID-19. While Diamond will resume shipping comics and collected editions later this month, Marvel has announced that seven titles will switch mid-run into digital-only offerings. Those titles are:
2020: Ironheart
Ant-Man
Avengers of the Wastelands
Ghost-Spider
Hawkeye: Freefall
Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Black Cat Strikes
Ravencroft
Star
Ant-Man and especially Hawkeye: Freefall are terrific comics, so it’s really a drag for monthly buyers.
It’s an unprecedented move, though what isn’t unprecedented right now? 2020: Ironheart, for example, is only two issues, with the first one released as a print copy. This move is sure to drive back-issue buyers batty as they may not realize that the issues they are seeking don’t exist.
That leaves the trade paperbacks as the only way to eventually get these titles in print versions, so trade-waiters need not worry.
