R.I.P. DC Archives Editor Dale Crain

I was greatly saddened to read of the passing of Dale Crain, a name that should be familiar to anyone who has bought more than a few DC Archives volumes over the last 20 years. According to his friend and Archives associate, Robert Greenberger, Dale passed away suddenly from a heart attack yesterday (April 3, 2020). I can say I had the pleasure of meeting Dale on a trip to the DC offices in 2006, and I can honestly say I remember his firm handshake and big smile. Another thing to remember is his love of comicbooks, a testament we can all share in the many dozens of Archives volumes that populate our book shelves. After leaving DC several years ago, Dale also served as a restorationist for Marvel’s Masterworks series.

Please visit Bob Greenberger’s Facebook post to read his thoughts on the life and passing of his friend, Dale. And when you’re done with that, maybe pull your favorite volume of DC Archives off the shelf. Even if he didn’t have anything directly to do with it, his love of the line is likely responsible for the book in your hands.

UPDATE: Dale’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds to transport his body from Vietnam back to America. If you would like to donate, please VISIT THIS LINK.
