Buy 'Em Here! SOFTCOVER MASTERWORKS LINKS In 2009, as part of their 70th Anniversary observance, Marvel at long last began offering their Masterworks line in softcover format. The quality is nice and they are half the cost of their hardcover counterparts. Marvel is releasing these books monthly in the same order as they originally came out, with a few exceptions due to timeliness (such as releasing the Iron Man volume early to coincide with the release of the Iron Man 2 movie). And just like the hardcover Masterworks, these softcovers are available in "regular" editions as well as the limited, numbered editions. DC ARCHIVES LINKS The reprint world's crown jewel, the DC Archives has blown past its 100th volume since the last time I updated this page. In my opinion, it's been the best and most successful reprint of all time, reprinting a wide variety of comics from Action #1 to New Teen Titans and doing it with a regularity that is astounding! MARVEL PREMIERE EDITION HARDCOVERS LINKS Here you'll find the Marvel Premiere Edition hardcovers (and a few other hardcovers) that don't fall into the Marvel Universe category. Operating during an era when Super Heroes was not the dominant genre, the company published horror, war, and science fiction titles that have gained mythic status over the decades. There are so many trades out there, especially in recent years when Marvel has finally given this format some attention, so I am restricting the sales page to trades that get the Gormuu stamp of quality- so buy with confidence! Buy 'Em Here! ESSENTIALS LINKS I've mellowed on Essentials over the years. Personally, I like having color with my comics, and Essentials are Marvel's line of 500+ page, B+W reprints. But even though I used to pull my sister's hair and pull the heads off her Barbies, at the end of the day I had to admit that I loved her. And as such, how can I truly hate the Essentials? This is such great material despite it being rendered in B+W. If Marvel wants to send its classic comics out for Halloween dressed like a phone book, who am I to say, "No! Stop! SHOWCASE PRESENTS LINKS DC follows suit with Marvel's Essential line, giving fans of DC's classic comics a chance to buy 500+ page collections of comics in black and white! Compared to the Essentials, DC's B+W line is in its infancy, but it is concentrating on really popular material that's already been Archived, or material that is not likely for Archiving any time soon. MARVEL ULTIMATE/COMPLETE COLLECTION TPBs LINKS Marvel Ultimate Collections, and now "Complete Collcectios" are a line of trades that consolidate longer runs of comics than a typical trade paperback, sometimes conforming to the contents of previously published OHC collections. Often but not always collecting material from more recent series, they are typically meant to replace single trades that are allowed to go out of print. Buy 'Em Here! MARVEL LICENSED TRADES LINKS These aren't trade paperbacks that Marvel has licensed, but rather collections of titles that Marvel licensed and published in the seventies and eighties. The license on these properties, such as Conan, Star Wars, and G.I. Joe, have been acquired by other publishers (e.g. Dark Horse, IDW) who have released collections of the classic Marvel series. DC CLASSIC TRADES LINKS DC's iconic characters have appeared in many different classic trade paperback lines, from their Chronicles series to wonderful Silver Age anthologies to collections that focus on particular runs with particular creators. This is the page where you'll find them all, with collections that stretch all the way back to the beginning of the Golden Age all the way up through the nineties. COLLECTIONS LINKS In November 2012, Marvel began a more gradual relaunch of their own, although the Marvel NOW! initiative was not a reboot of existing continuity, nor was it linewide. It was more of a new-reader-friendly reshuffling of creative teams on their top books, complete with some new perspectives on classic concepts.
